Buffalo Bills: Things We Know This Week

“O.J. Simpson, not a Jew. But guess who is? Hall of famer Rod Carew – he converted. We got Ann Landers and her sister Dear Abby. Harrison Ford’s a quarter Jewish – not too shabby” – Adam Sandler
McBeane has a 49-32 regular season record. Not too shabby.
“Now that’s what I call high-quality H2O.” – Bobby Boucher
The Buffalo Bills have made the playoffs four out of five seasons with this leadership. Not too shabby.
“Making the playoffs this year and ending that playoff drought was about the most fun I’ve ever had. Celebrating with those grown men in the locker room acting like kids is something I will never forget.” – Eric Wood
The Bills have a Playoff record of 3-4 with this coach/gm combo. Not too shabby.
“I’ll probably have a drink of wine tonight.” – Terry Pegula
Keep in mind, that the first playoff appearance was in the very beginning of the rebuild as Tyrod Taylor was the Bills signal caller. Witnessing the likes of Kyle Williams and Eric Wood finally participate in the post season was very special.
“Not us, right? Not us. Let’s tank it, man. Let’s just be done with it. They don’t know anything about heart. They don’t know anything about work. That’s who we are. These boys are going to enjoy it with their dad. They knew what was coming and wanted to come celebrate with us. Hey, men, coach and I talked about this a couple of weeks ago… This is not a finish. This is a start. Let’s stay on it.” – Kyle Williams
The second year, this team was totally dismantled as they were in total rebuild mode. Nathan Peterman completed only five of his 18 passes for 24 yards and tossed two interceptions to start the season. He was swiftly benched in favor of rookie Josh Allen in Buffalo’s 47-3 loss to Baltimore. Peterman made it look like the plan was to throw the ball to the other team or at the ground in open space. An NFL quality quarterback can not have overthrowing or throwing it away as the only alternatives to interceptions.
“I think it’s opportunities and chances that it goes one way. It’s football; you can’t predict how it’s going to go. The ball doesn’t bounce your way sometimes and you have to go ahead and move forward and learn from the mistakes and move on.” – Nathan Peterman
Why is this good? Two reasons:
1.) Because it opened up the door for Josh Allen to begin his growing pains sooner than later.
2.) This put an end to the absolutely horrible Nathan Peterman experiment. At least in the 716. Not too shabby.
“When someone I know smiles at me, all I see is a chimpanzee begging for its life.” – Dwight Schrute
One would never guess that, at one point early in the McBeane Administration, Sean McDermott temporarily stripped Leslie Frazier of calling defensive plays. When it was swiftly returned to him, he received a GAME BALL. He also was promoted from strictly Defensive Coordinator to Assistant Head Coach. This is a title with responsibility and impact. This is not just a “Dwight Schrute, Assistant-to-the GM” position. This will not permanently influence his decision to stay in Buffalo. It does make his current role more intriguing to stick with. Frazier already has two Super Bowl rings, but would love to add one in the Queen City. Not Too Shabby.
“Assistant favorite QB, or assistant to your favorite QB?” – Josh Allen
