Wide Receiver Prospects Every Buffalo Bills Fans Should Know

Published

on

The Buffalo Bills could be in for a shake-up in the bottom half of their depth chart at wide receiver. John Brown is a candidate to be cut to save cap room. Isaiah McKenzie and Andre Roberts are both free agents.

The loss of Brown means the loss of speed on the boundary; a player to stretch the field and take the pressure off those underneath. The Bills still have Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis to fill the roles on the boundary. However, if one of them misses time with injury the Bills will find themselves in a situation like 2019, where Brown was really the only player on the roster capable of playing on the boundary and it stunted the passing game.

The loss of McKenzie and Roberts means the loss of gadget players (jet sweeps) and return ability. If you look at the remainder of the depth chart (Jake Krumerow, Duke Williams, Isaiah Hodgins, Tanner Gentry), there is a severe lack of speed and game-breaking ability. Field position was a crucial part of Buffalo’s offensive success in 2020. They need to find a punt returner they can trust.
