The Bills CANNOT Miss Out on the Matt Paradis Sweepstakes

In the wee hours of the free-agent negotiations period, something has become clear on a free-agent the Bills have been tied to all off season in Matt Paradis, the sweepstakes has been dwindled down to the Jets and Bills.

Paradis would be a significant upgrade to the center position for Buffalo and the offensive line as a whole, coming off a season in which he played nine games with nine starts for the Denver Broncos before fracturing his fibula against the Houston Texans. Paradis has since made a full recovery and will receive one of the most lucrative free-agent deals of the offseason wherever he may end up. Hopefully that will be Buffalo.

The Bills no longer have the excuse of not having enough cap space, with about $74 million to spend yet in this free-agency period. They do not have the excuse of not having a need, it is clear that Paradis would be an upgrade over Ryan Groy. Outside of his fractured fibula, since coming into the league, Paradis had not missed a start in each of his three previous seasons.

Names are coming off the board fast, and the Jets are going to make a huge push for Paradis to finish off the rebuild of their offensive line, but the Bills need to flex their financial muscle for a player that could have a huge impact on not only 2019, but for years to come. Brandon Beane and company should not be afraid to overpay a little for a veteran center who could play a huge part in the development of Josh Allen and Brian Daboll’s offense for the foreseeable future.

The Matt Paradis market will likely come to a resolution shortly, and the resolution should be Paradis being introduced in a press conference at One Bills Drive as the cornerstone of the Bills offensive line for years to come.
