On the latest Rico Report, our host interviewed Buffalo Bills fullback Reggie Gilliam. Gilliam joined the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) in 2020, and has earned his place on a competitive roster for two straight seasons since then.
An Interview With Reggie Gilliam (1:10)
Reggie Gilliam didn’t get the usual offseason experience as a rookie and a second-year pro, due to pandemic restrictions in both 2020 and 2021. Despite two years as a pro, he’s getting it all for the first time right now. What are the benefits of finally getting a normal offseason? Reggie says that he appreciates getting to talk to the coaches and get the bigger picture, understanding their goals for both him and the offense. He’s more comfortable on the team now, as he’s understanding the whole image.

Reggie has a great work ethic, and has areas he needed to target to improve his game and become a more versatile, useful asset to the offense. He’s been working on running routes and catching, as well as other areas he’s not used to. With another offseason under his belt, we could see big things from him in 2022.
Having sat through three days of the NFL Draft in 2020, and not getting his name called, Gilliam had a chip on his shoulder. He didn’t expect to be drafted, but he’s appreciative of the shot he got anyway.
“Nobody believed in me in the first place, so I’ve got to make people a believer again.”

His Teammates (21:36)
Reggie and Rico talked for a while about his teammates, from his thoughts on Jordan Poyer to his friendship with Isaiah McKenzie. When asked about which of his teammates is ‘the Kobe Bryant’, the guy who brings the fire and takes over, he had one answer.
