Rico Report: Jordan Poyer Not At OTAs, Buffalo Bills Interviews

On the latest episode on The Rico Report, our host discussed the Jordan Poyer situation, and his absence from the Buffalo Bills’ OTAs. It had been an exciting and unusual week at Buffalo Fanatics, so stick around for Rico’s recap of his and Z-Bot’s invitation to a West Herr media event with multiple Buffalo Bills players.
Jordan Poyer: Absent From OTAs (16:14)
At the Buffalo Bills’ voluntary Organized Team Activities (OTAs), there is one man missing for a notable reason. Jordan Poyer is seeking a new deal, and he’s deserving of one. For now, he’s not at OTAs, but that would change immediately if he got his contract extension. He’s working elsewhere for now, and will be ready for this season. That much shouldn’t be in doubt.

He’s right to seek that new contract now, with only one year left on his current contract and coming off of an All-Pro season. It would indisputably be his last chance to get paid a major deal and, at age 31, his play has never been better. Right now, he’s not even close to the league’s best paid Safety, despite his status. In order to maintain our core during a Super Bowl window, keeping him happy is the best thing for the team.
Once Jordan Poyer is dealt with, regardless of the outcome, Micah Hyde may surely follow. The franchise simply cannot pay everyone, and picking and choosing who’s more or less deserving of a new major deal is a new challenge for Brandon Beane.
Rico also went down to Buffalo and joined Z-Bot for a West Herr event with some Buffalo Bills players (48:04). They interviewed multiple players, from Devin Singletary to Reid Ferguson, as well as someone who wasn’t quite Josh Allen.
