Rico Report: Do The Buffalo Bills Have The Best ‘Big Four’ In The NFL?

Published

Another episode of The Rico Report is here. We’re asked a few questions. Do the Buffalo Bills have the best ‘Big Four’ in the NFL? If not us, then who? What does Brandon Beane plan to do when the 2022 NFL Draft rolls around on Thursday April 28th? We’re left with nothing but mysteries. Let’s get into it.

Do The Buffalo Bills Have The Best ‘Big Four’? (3:09)

Who is the Buffalo Bills’ ‘Big Four? We say: Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Tre’Davious White, and Von Miller. Allen already has a case for the best QB in the NFL, and that sets him apart. Only one year removed from his league-leading season, Stefon Diggs is in Buffalo to stay too. Von Miller may not be in his prime, but he’s already a Hall of Famer if he retired today, and he was a major part of the Los Angeles Rams’ NFL title in 2021/22. Still fresh, and ready to run back to a title, the two-time Super Bowl champion and one-time Super Bowl MVP is here to hurt. Tre’Davious White may be coming off an ACL tear but, when he’s back on the field, he’s one of the best corners in the league, and an All-Pro talent.

If Not Us, Who? (18:42)

The L.A. Rams are contenders. The reigning NFL champs feature a ‘Big Four’ of Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, Cooper Kupp, and Jalen Ramsey. Donald is arguably one of the best defensive players in NFL history, and Matt Stafford is coming off a top-10 QB season. Kupp had over 1,800 receiving yards, and secured the Offensive Player of the Year for leading the league in yards and TDs. He earned a Super Bowl MVP in the process. Jalen Ramsey is a lockdown corner, too; that much isn’t in doubt.

The L.A. Chargers have a good case, too. They boast Keenan Allen, Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa, J.C. Jackson, and far more talent than we can count on one hand. You could pick any of their top seven or eight players and they’d contend for this title. Justin Herbert is going to get paid, and this team is going to be good for a long time.

The Cincinnati Bengals are a real threat, as well. Joe Burrow was an unexpected boon last season, as was the breakout of Ja’Marr Chase at wide receiver. Joe Mixon was running like his young self, and enjoyed real blocking for the first time in his career. Trey Hendrickson had a tremendous impact last season as well. He had a whopping 14 sacks, and was massive for them in the postseason.

There are plenty of other threats, especially in a deep AFC. It’s a big league, though. The NFC has plenty of fight left in it. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers feature a scary group of talented players, obviously aided by the ‘Return’ of Tom Brady. But who has the scariest ‘Fearsome Foursome’? Which ‘Big Four’ is best?

Brandon Beane’s Next Move (41:26)

Brandon Beane has had one heck of an offseason- Nay- one heck of a career for the Buffalo Bills so far. What’s next in his mission to take us all the way to that coveted Lombardi Trophy? The offensive line has been shored up, the defensive line is completely reinvented for the better. With the 2022 NFL Draft looming, what more can he do? He’s been known to be aggressive. Did he already use his energy and aggressiveness in free agency, or does he plan to chase down players in the draft?

The Buffalo Bills have needs, both now and for the future. Cornerback is an urgent need, but we have one of the best-coached secondaries in the NFL. We could survive if we didn’t draft someone there early. Yes, Tremaine Edmunds is in the last year of his deal. So, should we look for his replacement at middle linebacker, or extend him? The Bills could definitely upgrade at running back to match the improved offensive line. Would that be a luxury pick, and can we afford a luxury right now? It remains to be seen.
