Michael Stachan Details his Conversations with the Buffalo Bills

Published

on

Since Justin Melo of The Draft Network first reported that Michael Strachan had met with the Buffalo Bills, he has had Bills Mafia’s attention on various social media platforms. It is not hard to figure out why. The 6’5, 228-pound wide receiver from the College of Charleston has an 84-inch wingspan and ran a 4.46 40-yard dash on his pro day. We had a chance to sit down with Michael to talk about his game, his path to the NFL, and his interest in the Bills.

A Move To Tight End?

Strachan states that he has not been approached about a transition to Tight End. He says most coaches and scouts he talked to want him to be comfortable, and he is most comfortable playing Wide Receiver.

Strachan will get his first crack in the NFL on the boundary. The former high school track star decided to go to the College of Charleston in part to be able to run track and play football simultaneously. His 4.46 40-yard dash certainly got the attention of a lot of people in the NFL community.

The Next Megatron?

When asked who he models his game after, Michael stated he studies Calvin Johnson the most. Why? “Because he reminds me of me,” says Strachan.

Breaking The Small School Stigma

I mentioned to Strachan how Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen followed a similar small school path to NFL stardom. The receiver was quick to praise Allen’s game. He also mentioned names like Jerry Rice, Andre Reed, Tyreek Hill, and Adam Thielen. “It just goes to show you: if you have talent, the NFL will find you.”

Conversations With The Bills

Strachan says most of his conversations have been with area scouts, including scouts from the Buffalo Bills. He has had a few teams send a wide receiver coach or offensive coordinators to talk with him. However, the Bills were not one of those teams. He has not had conversations with Brian Daboll or Chad Hall.

Draft Stock on the Rise?

Michael says teams mostly tell him that he is “on their board”. Though he has heard enough through his agent to think he will “absolutely go before Day Three”.
