Now on to the list …
If your QB is out then be smart and start….
Matthew Stafford QB, Detroit Lions
Last week was a tough matchup for Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions, as they squeaked out a win against the Los Angeles Chargers. Their opponent in week three is a defense of the Philadelphia Eagles that is ranked in the lower half of the NFL. The Eagles’ defense has allowed some of the strongest games for wideouts this year so far. With a passing offense that the Lions like, look for Matthew Stafford to throw for a decent amount against a very weak pass defense. If you’re that guy who had Brees or Manning, give Stafford a try.
If you’re in deeper take a sleeper…
Frank Gore RB, Buffalo Bills
Frank Gore is available in most leagues because he is in a running by committee group on the Buffalo Bills. Still, Gore out-touched rookie Devin Singletary in the past two weeks. It doesn’t help that Singletary is dealing with a hamstring injury and is out for week three. This could be a week where a flyer like Gore can come in handy against a poor Bengals defense that got smoked by the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are similarly built on offense to the Bills, and Matt Breida took advantage of that with over 100 yards rushing. Look for maybe Gore to take advantage of that as well.
If you’re special like me and play IDP…
Shaquil Barrett, DE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Rookie Daniel Jones of the New York Giants is all ready to make his debut as a starting quarterback, but it doesn’t help that he will face sack machine Shaquil Barrett his first game. The Giants offensive line is weak and will be troublesome for the rookie quarterback. Opponents in two weeks have allowed a low 560 passing yards, 280 rushing yards, and two interceptions. Giants have had trouble with protecting the quarterback, Eli Manning, in the previous two weeks who was often harassed and rushed into throwing which resulted in the team going 5/23 on third downs. Even though the Giants Offensive line only gave two sacks the first two weeks, look for Shaquil Barrett to make an impact with a couple of tackles and pair of sacks this game.
Don’t be in the pits and sit….
Carolina Panthers Receivers (D.J. Moore, Greg Olsen, Curtis Samuel)
Did you know it’s been two weeks and the best player on the Panthers offense has been the kicker, Joey Slye? Quarterback Cam Newton has not thrown a touchdown pass in two weeks. Now, we all know there might be something wrong with Newton. The Arizona Cardinals are not the best defense, literally one of the worst. Still, this is one of those games that I think it will be more on Christian McCaffrey than anyone else. Sit them down!
Denver Broncos Running Backs (Philip Lindsay, Royce Freeman)
The Denver Broncos roll into majestic Lambeau Field to face the very surprising and underrated Green Bay Packers defense, the same defense that has only allowed one rushing and one passing touchdown in two weeks. Look for the run game to struggle for the Broncos. Before the season, a lot of people asked me which player will regress the most from last year. My answer was Philip Lindsay. Philip Lindsay has only 79 yards rushing after two weeks, and it simply is not working for the running back. Royce Freeman is doing better, but not by much. The Broncos have been struggling to run the ball. It is one of the reasons why the Broncos have started out 0-2. The offense for the Broncos will struggle to get any momentum against this decent run defense. Bench the running backs for the Broncos if you want to do well.
Honestly, I own this defense, and they are one of the best defenses in the league right now, but against a potential of a high scoring game against the Patrick Mahomes led Kansas City Chiefs, I am going to be safe and play another team. Keep them on your bench, and maybe try to get San Francisco or even Buffalo to play this week instead of Baltimore, just to be safe!
There you have it folks, my week three start and sits. Reach us on twitter @BuFFanatics and @TheMightyDeol Ask us any Fantasy questions! Although we are a Buffalo Bills page, we all want to win our fantasy leagues. So, every week, I will have some starts and sits for the PPR and the IDP players out there.
