The best Buffalo Bills fantasy pick is the Bills defense. Right now, the ADP for the Bills defense is 12, which in my opinion is very low. ESPN has them ranked as four, Yahoo at 24, CBS at six, and Fantrax at nine. This variety of places shows how much numbers can get skewed just by one outlier’s ranking.
My personal opinion is that the defense should be ranked in the five to seven mark. They are one of the best defenses in the league, and, once again, fantasy football owners are overlooking the Buffalo Bills. Here is why they should not.
Depth at the Defensive Line
One of the things that will make this Bills defense even better is the player depth they currently have. Fantasy leagues want teams that get a lot of sacks and takeaways. This is exactly how this year’s defense is built. The Bills have a rookie DT in Ed Oliver that will help pressure the quarterback from the interior, and this will result in more sacks overall for the defense. Oliver is joined by the likes of Jerry Hughes, Trent Murphy, and Shaq Lawson, making this formidable front line a force that should terrorize quarterbacks all year long.
The Linebacker Trio
A bright spot on the defense last year was the emergence of linebacker Matt Milano who was on pace to make the Pro Bowl. After a horrible injury cut his season short, he is back and fully healthy. Joined by the tandem of Tremaine Edmunds and Lorenzo Alexander, this trio should be all over the run and pass game. These three linebackers are going to get a lot of sacks, interceptions, and forced and recovered fumbles. I have a feeling that one of them will make the Pro Bowl this year.
The one spot I had a concern about is the cornerback spot opposite Tre’Davious White. Second year man Levi Wallace looks like the guy for that spot right now, but veteran Captain Munnerlyn was just signed as well to make sure that there is depth if Wallace struggles.
Hyde and Poyer
The Bills safeties are one of the most underrated duos in football. Every year, Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde continue to improve. They both have elite instincts and playmaking abilities. Whether intercepting passes or making great reads, Hyde and Poyer have what it takes to be Pro Bowl safeties. They are some of the best fantasy football safeties for all you IDP players.
Again, don’t overlook the Bills defense in fantasy football. They were one of the best defenses in fantasy last year, and bet on them getting even better this year. The amount of sacks, takeaways, and touchdowns they will get this year is sure to please all you fantasy lovers. Don’t make the mistake of overlooking the Bills!
