The London games always bring a lot of commotion to NFL fans in the UK. And this year is no different. Especially since we didn’t have them last year due to certain circumstances.
It’s always fun watching the NFL in London, it just really sucks that this year we have the choice of watching Jets-Falcons or Dolphins-Jaguars.
This brings me to the popularity of the Jaguars in the UK. Given the fact it feels like they play here every year, its not surprising that they’ve built quite the following in the UK. It just seems like the obvious choice. Also, the Patriots, because you know, glory hunters.
So why am I a Bills fan?
It all began in 2017. I’d been an avid follower of the NFL for a few years, but I never really supported a team. I would just follow my roommate’s enthusiasm for the Eagles. That year however, I took notice of the Bills.
More specifically, during week 17.
As a Cubs fan, I understand the pain that comes with a playoff drought. Its not fun. So, when the possibility of breaking an 18-year drought is in the hands of another team, you take notice.
Despite not being a Bills fan at the time, even I felt the tension during those final minutes.
My heart was in my throat when Dalton threw that interception.
But that gave way to excitement when the refs called a pass interference penalty and awarded the Bengals that first down.
There was still a chance.
Then Dalton connects with Boyd. I cheered so loud, I’m pretty certain all my neighbors heard me.
Watching the reactions of Bills fans, seeing how the team reacted in the locker room, and then Dalton announced how Bills Mafia were donating to his foundation as a thank you.
How can you not love a team like that?
After that moment, I was hooked on the Bills. And my love for them has grown ever since.
I can’t wait to see what they do this season.
