Fantasy Football is back! Here at Buffalo Fanatics, we’re ready to help you succeed and win that championship. It’s either you or a guy named Carson or Zack and honestly, you deserve a win this year. 2020 has been rough and what better way to end it then beating your buddies in a game that requires you to study and to be lucky.

The first step is figuring out who to start and who you should sit. This week we’re going to focus on three players for each category. With there being no preseason, it’s gonna be hard to really pin down what players will succeed and what players will flat out flop.

Start Em

Jonathan Taylor

Now, normally, I wouldn’t recommend starting a rookie, much less a rookie running back, but there’s something special about Taylor. Taylor seems to be the missing link in which the Colts have been searching for the past decade. The reason I’m writing about Taylor has as much to do with him as a player as it does with who his opponent is.

Jacksonville allowed around 26 points to opposing running backs last season and Taylor had outstanding numbers in college. Taylor put up 2,003 yards with 6.3 yards per carry his last year in college. Obviously, college is a lot different, and with no preseason to go off, one would assume the Colts will start Marlon Mack. However, I believe Taylor will be the hot hand.

In a game where you expect the Colts to blow out the Jags, garbage time points will be available, and the Colts will want their rookie running back to get as many touches as possible. Look for Taylor to get you 15 plus points in a PPR league come Sunday.

Tyler Higbee

Tyler Higbee celebrating a touchdown against opposing team

Alright, hear me out. On these lists, I wanted to go with people that have been overlooked at their position. Higbee fits that description to a tee. With Gerald Everett sidelined with an injury during the last month of the season, Higbee caught fire like a car who’s engine is on the fritz. Higbee produced over 100 yards in four of the last five games of the season.

The Rams should look to him early and often in their passing game. Here’s where it gets tricky: Everett is back, and with no preseason, it means we don’t know the usage Higbee will demand. I think Higbee is worth the flyer on starting, which is why he ends up in the must-start column this week. The Cowboys were also just awful defending opposing Tight Ends last season, so this game could build on what Higbee did during the last month of the season last year. Higbee should be good for around 13 points in this game.

Stefon Diggs

Sure, I write for a Buffalo Bills website, but this isn’t me being a so-called “Homer”. This is all about Diggs’ talent and his opponent this Sunday. Diggs will be going up against a Jets team that shouldn’t scare anyone when it comes to their secondary.

Diggs will be targeted a ton, testing Josh Allen’s new chemistry with his star receiver. Diggs has looked amazing during camp workouts, and Allen has seemed to improve on his accuracy and touch. The Bills will try to run the ball, but I don’t believe they will have much luck against the Jets defensive front.

Look for Stefon Diggs to be targeted around 12 times getting you a touchdown and about 100 yards for 16 points in his debut for Buffalo.

Sit Em

Kenyan Drake

Drake came into his own last year when he was traded to Arizona and had an all-around great year. Here comes the but, though: Drake will have his first matchup of the season against a team that allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs last year.

The 49ers defense is stout, and with no preseason, it’s hard to assess if Drake will continue his stellar play in Arizona. At least for week one, Kenyan Drake has found himself on the Sit Em list.

Kenny Golladay

Golladay is an elite wide receiver, and with Matthew Stafford coming back from injury, he should be on your shortlist of start em every week. This week, though, he’s on the Sit Em list because of Chicago’s defense.

Chicago gave up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers last year. We have to assume Golladay’s chemistry with Stafford isn’t down just yet, and some will point to Stefon Diggs having Josh Allen and needing chemistry as well, but Diggs is going against the Jets and not Chicago.

Look for Chicago to give Stafford fits and Golladay to be contained for most of the game.

Austin Hooper

I’m sitting Hooper this week, not because of his potential but because the Ravens are serious when it comes to defending Tight Ends. Hooper is a top ten TE that is joining a new offense and a coach who loves TE’s, but his week one opponent is no joke.

The Ravens defense allowed the second-fewest fantasy yards to opposing tight ends last year. In this case, it’s difficult to see Hooper coming out super strong in Cleveland. Sit Hooper this week, and trust me next week.
