Does Ziggy Ansah Make Sense For The Buffalo Bills?

Buffalo Bills sign Ziggy Ansah

Ever since what I like to call the Ziggy Rush (Buffalo Bills meeting with Ansah), fans have been glued to the edge of their seat waiting to hear the news of the signing! After almost three weeks the wire remains silent.

For good reason too. Teams are waiting to hear back on medicals after a surgically repaired shoulder.

No Title

Why hasn’t pass-rusher Ziggy Ansah signed yet? His agent said teams wanted more info about his surgically repaired shoulder. The plan is to wait until his 4-month appointment in mid-April to help determine his readiness. After the initial FA push, there’s no rush to sign now.

At this point, does it make sense for the Buffalo Bills to sign Ziggy Ansah?

No. Matter of fact, hell no. Stay away and far away. It sounds like an awful idea though Brandon Beane loves players that are fresh off of injured reserve. The last thing the Bills need to do is sign an often injured Ziggy Ansah to play in front of an often injured Trent Murphy. Though I must say, if Bills can manage to sign him to a one year prove it (cheap) deal, then by all means.

The production is provocative, three double digit sack years for Ziggy. Jerry Hughes, in the final year of his deal. Shaq Lawson, likely his last season as a Buffalo Bill. The problem is well documented and understood. The solution is not a 29 year old walking medical tent.

With rumors swirling weeks ago of Bills in on Seattle Seahawks edge rusher Frank Clark, also Houston Texans end Jadeveon Clowney, there’s no doubt they’re trying to make a move at the position. My recomendation? Go young, go draft.

In fact there is a slew of underrated edge rushers in this years upcoming NFL Draft class. Many of who the Bills have begun to meet with. Some of the higher profile guys starting with Florida State‘s Brian Burns and Mississippi StatesMontez Sweat. Mid to late round selections such as Maxx Crosby of Eastern Michigan, Jaylon Ferguson of Louisiana Tech and Kyle Phillips of Tennessee.

Medicals should be back in on Ziggy within the next few weeks as he will make his decision on which team to play for. Maybe it is Buffalo, maybe it isn’t. I can tell you that Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott are not waiting for him to make up his mind. All bases are covered as the 2019 off-season is still only just getting under way.

Let us know if you’d like the Bills to sign Ziggy Ansah, trade for Clowney or draft an upcoming edge rusher.
