Buffalo Bills Win 4th-Straight Division Title in Dramatic Fashion, Beat Phins 21-14
WOW. Taylor Rapp wrapped up the game, as the Buffalo Bills beat the Miami Dolphins 21-14 in their own house. As a result, Buffalo will face the Pittsburgh Steelers at home next week. What an end to the regular season for the Bills, as they won their last five games, and were crowned AFC East champions for the fourth consecutive year. Let’s recap that game.
Injuries
Let’s start out this recap by going through the LONG list of injuries the Bills suffered tonight.
- Dion Dawkins (hand laceration)
- Ty Johnson (concussion)
- Rasul Douglas (knee)
- Gabe Davis (knee)
- Tyrel Dodson (shoulder)
Josh Allen turnovers are mounting
After three turnovers (two INTs, one fumble), Allen has 22 turnovers on the season. There was a point in the game where the Bills had four red zone appearances, and only one TD to show for it. As we get into the playoffs, Josh NEEDS to clean these up.
After that brutal offensive drive to end the first half, Sean McDermott said that Josh needs to throw into the end zone, and not the field of play in those situations. If that happens, we probably win by two scores.
Pass rush is non-existent
The Bills defense only had one sack today, and that came from Tyrel Dodson on a RB pass attempt. It may have been by design, but the Bills rushers couldn’t get through into the backfield. That’s another thing they will need to be cleaned up heading into the playoffs. We all know what it can look like, and we need it to come back to life against Mason Rudolph and the Steelers.
DEONTE HARTY!!
That 96-yard kick return won the Buffalo Bills that game. It gave them new life. Without it, the offense would’ve kept struggling with a banged up OL. Harty showed up for the first time all season, and it was when it mattered. That’s all that matters when you’re fighting for playoff seeding.
What a way to get your first TD
Congrats to Trent Sherfield on scoring his first TD as a Bill, and what an amazing one it was. A toe-tapping back of the end zone catch was a sight to see.
