Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills Week 16 Overreactions

Well, the first half Buffalo Bills struck again. Going into halftime, they trailed the Chicago Bears 7-6 with their only touchdown coming on a 19-yard Gabe Davis reception. After that? Buffalo scored 29 second half points, due in large part to a very successful running game. The Bills clinched the AFC East, improved their win streak to six games, and are one game closer to locking up a first round bye in the playoffs. So, what can we overreact to in this game?
1.) Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs have fallen out of sync.
Allen only targeted Diggs two times in the win over Chicago, completing both of them for 26 yards. Those 26 yards were a season low for Diggs, who hasn’t had a 100-yard game since Week 10. So, are the two out of sync? Probably not, it’s probably more likely the Bears had a great gameplan to stop Diggs. But it might be something to watch as they travel to Cincinnati for a big MNF game.
2.) The Bills run game is back!!
The Buffalo Bills haven’t seen a good run game since the LeSean McCoy days. Could that change? Devin Singletary had 12 rushes for 106 yards, and James Cook totaled 11 rushes for 99 yards, both scoring rushing touchdowns as well. If the Bills can keep up this success on the ground going into the playoffs, this offense might be unstoppable. The Bills RBs are averaging 4.81 yards per carry, 5th-best in the league according to Sal Capaccio.
3.) Von who?
I’m joking. Please don’t cancel me. But, the pass rush looks like it hasn’t missed a beat after losing Von Miller. They recorded two sacks, four QB hits, and 11 TFLs this week. The Bills pass rush needs to keep this momentum through the end of the season/post season as they start to face tougher opponents. If they can, the thing Bills fans have been complaining about for the last two postseasons might actually be a huge part of the defensive success.
4.) The Bills have a problem at secondary, and it’s a good thing.
The Bills have an insane amount of depth at CB, with Tre White, Dane Jackson, and Kaiir Elam all getting meaningful reps week after week, and not to mention Xavier Rhodes bringing a veteran presence to that side of the ball. BUT, there’s one talented player that we haven’t seen in a while. Christian Benford has been on IR as he deals with his oblique injury. Now when Benford returns, and with those four other players already playing, the Bills will have a stacked CB room, and it’s going to be a great issue for the Bills to have.
5.) Can we please slow down on the “Fire Ken Dorsey” talk?
Welcome to my Ted Talk. The things Bills fans are mad at Ken Dorsey about this year are the same things that we were mad at Brian Daboll for last year… yet we were upset that we lost Daboll to the Giants. Just pump the breaks on any Dorsey hate when it’s the offensive players that aren’t executing the way they need to be. Thank you, and have a great Bengals week.
