Buffalo Bills Week 14 Overreactions

The Buffalo Bills won in ugly fashion, as has been the case for the last few weeks this season. It could have gone better, as there was multiple holding calls on Dion Dawkins, drops by Isaiah McKenzie, and Dane Jackson getting beat again this week. But, as Bills fans are accustom to saying, a win is a win. And what better way to celebrate a win, than saying some crazy things about your favorite team? Let’s get into it.

1.) The Bills have nobody on offense besides Allen and Diggs.

Yes, I know I said Gabe Davis would have an All-Pro season, but he’s tied for first in the league with six dropped passes. And Isaiah McKenzie hasn’t exactly been known for catching every pass this season either. Not to mention the OL looks like Russell Bodine and Vlad Ducasse are back blocking. Spencer Brown has been a revolving door all season, allowing three sacks and five penalties called on him. Heading into the season, and even the first few weeks, it looked like the Bills had all their holes fixed. Now, they really need somebody to help spark the offense.

2.) Who did Kaiir Elam wrong?

Elam being listed as a healthy inactive last week caused some concern and head scratching from the fanbase and media. This week, he was active but didn’t play one snap on defense, instead giving 100% of the snaps to Dane Jackson. I don’t get the infatuation the Buffalo Bills front office has with Dane Jackson. He has been getting picked on since the Cleveland Browns game, if not before that, and the Bills still haven’t looked to make any type of change there. Christian Benford is on IR and Xavier Rhodes was inactive for this game and Elam still didn’t see the field. Something needs to happen, and fast, before your first round pick starts to look like a bust.

3.) Someone told Ken Dorsey that he has Dawson Knox on his team.

Your multi-million dollar TE finally got some action Sunday, Bills Mafia. He totaled 41 yards and one TD on four receptions, some of his best work all season. You can blame Josh for his lack of production or Ken Dorsey. Either way, Knox was finally involved in the offense Sunday and it was great to see. Hopefully, as the season/postseason goes on, we see even more production from him.

4.) The Buffalo Bills run game was non-existent again. But that’s nothing new.

Devin Singletary broke a couple nice runs, one for 18 yards as the Bills were driving, and he finished with 39 yards on the ground. But the ground game just couldn’t get going no matter how much the Bills tried to make it work. 55 rushing yards by players that don’t wear jersey number 17. Fans can clammer all they want for the Bills to utilize the ground game more, but until anyone shows they can be a consistent runner, it won’t be as effective as people want it to be. And that can be blamed on both the lackluster OL performance and the RBs too.

5.) The pass rush looks good without Von!

This is not an overreaction here to end this article, but, as Dwight K. Schrute would say, “it is a statement of fact.” The pass rush got to Mike White all day, sacking White four times and hitting him eight times. It looked like they didn’t even miss Von Miller on the line. Greg Rousseau was credited with two sacks, Shaq Lawson had one, and AJ Epenesa also had one. As Buffalo welcomes a banged up Miami Dolphins OL to the 716, the pass rush should affect Tua Tagovailoa again on Saturday.
