Buffalo Bills Thursday Thought: Don’t Listen to the Slander

The Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen seem to never win over the respect and praise of the national media. As the team and the quarterback grow the more wrong they are.

We know what we have. We know how good we got it. We know that Josh Allen is a franchise quarterback that can lead us to a Super Bowl. That this Bills team isn’t the biggest threat to the Kansas City Chiefs. The national media can talk and say what they want. Little do they know the more they talk, the more fuel is poured onto the raging fire that is Josh Allen and this team. This week’s Thursday Thought: Don’t listen to the slander.

Through 12 games this season Josh Allen is completing about 70 percent of his passes and has thrown for 3,403 yards and 26 touchdown to just eight interceptions. His quarterback rating is 105.9. He’s fifth in yards, fourth in completion percentage, tied for sixth in touchdowns, and seventh in quarterback rating. Translation: Josh Allen is balling out.

This team is also having a great season. They’re 9-3 and are leading the division, and have a 91 percent chance to win the division according to FiveThirtyEight. They have a top ten offense and their defense lead the NFL in takeaways in the fourth quarter. Translation: This team is balling out.

So why are some national media analyst discrediting the Bills and Josh Allen? Why are they making excuses their success? Are these people watching the same team as you and I? What is to make of all of this?

Let me break this down for you. People like Nick Wright, Keyshawn Johnson and others don’t watch Bills games or rarely do and just want clicks/views. It’s the same reason Skip Bayless says outlandish things, it’s to get attention.

Whether these guys believe the stuff they’re saying is something we can’t necessarily prove. However, when people who study the game and watch film relentlessly like Brett Kollmann and Louis Riddick are telling you Josh Allen is becoming a star and this Bills team is a real threat to the Chiefs, they are the ones who are right.

Most of the guys either refuse to admit they were wrong about their opinions on the Bills and Allen from years ago or don’t know what they’re talking about. Just remind yourself that the next you watch a clip from some of these national media personalities. They’re trying to get you to react the way most of BillsMafia is now. It’s just like when PFF said Duck Hodges was the better quarterback when the Bills played the Steelers last season. It’s all to get clicks and reactions.

For the people who watch the Bills and Allen every week like you and me, we know. We know how good this team is and how good Josh Allen is. We know that this team, when at their best, can beat anyone in the NFL. If all goes well and the Bills continue this success into the playoffs, the ones having the last laugh will be us.
