SOMTHING IN THE WAY: Part One

Surveying the Buffalo Bills recently released 2022 schedule, do any obstacles jump out at you that could prevent them from winning the AFC? Something triggering the biting of nails on not winning the East? Experiencing Mashing of teeth with the thought of no post-season? Popping Xanax like candy with the vision of losing in a Super Bowl? Something in the way?

Something in the way. Mmm-mmm

The entire NFL season kicks off with the Buffalo Bills heading out to take on the Super Bowl Champions on the West Coast. I like this matchup against the LA Rams at the outset of the season. What’s not to like? I fancy this being Thursday night Primetime. As predicted, if the Bills win, they start out the season as a powerhouse. It would not be as daunting as the Pittsburgh loss last season if they lost. Every regular game in the NFL counts. We all know that conference games can make or break an entire season. Especially if that season you are targeting a first-round playoff bye, with the road to the BIG-Dance going through the Queen City. NOT CINCINATI. I meant Buffalo. Orchard Park. One Bills Drive. So silly.

Now, winning or losing in TINSELTOWN will not change the fact that Buffalo will have an extra long week of preparation for the Huge conference game. HOME OPENER. Monday-Night-Football in Bills Country against the Tennessee Titans. Are you kidding me? What’s not to love? Plenty of Prime Time national games this coming season for the world to see Josh Allen on display. I do not intend to take anything away form the rest of the Bills. Josh Allen is just a Superstar that is so beyond exciting to watch. A freakish talented athlete who can do it all.

Now, if by chance, the Bills head into week three with anything other than a 2-0 start, Miami can be the rebound. Josh Allen has rag-dolled the Fish with a 7-1 record. His passer rating of 106.8 with 1,980 yards, and 21 touchdowns, has me very confident against Miami. They have made improvements in certain areas. This game is in South Beach, but the results would be the same if they played in Antarctica. These Dolphins are not ready to play with the Big Dogs and need to sit on the porch.

Something in the way .Mmm-mmm

Buffalo stays on the road for week five for an always tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Jackson vs. Allen. The elite out of that quarterback draft. Another conference game with significant importance.

Something in the way .Mmm-mmm

Welcome home, Buffalo. Now that you are rolling, here is your chance for payback against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was an important conference game for the Bills to show the league they were not an up-and-coming team but the league’s elite.

Something in the way .Mmm-mmm

KANSAS CITY! Talk about Something in the way. The team that really has been in the Bills way. Last season’s classic playoff game rematch will draw a huge audience to see if the Mahomes/Allen show continues. This matchup has been compared to the battles between Marino and Kelly back in the late 80’s/90’s. McBeane has the Bills ready to take the next step.

Heading into the Bye Week.

to be continued…

I am semi-retired leaving my enjoyable 24 year management career due to multiple health issues. My dad retired from The Buffalo News after 49 years. I have been an avid fan for quite some time. Got that Marv Levy Fight Song In My Head for absolutely no reason.
