“It was a good team win. I thought the defense played incredible, they gave us that cushion early…. I think I left a lot of plays out there.” – Blake Bortles
An abhorrent loss across the pond in London against the Jaguars. A not so SUPER ‘Super Bowl‘ 26 in Minneapolis, falling to the Hogs. A Turkey Day embarrassment to the Lions in Pontiac. A couple losses in Toronto. Losses as well down I-90 West and Lake Erie against both the old and new Cleveland Browns. A rare E.J. Manuel victory in Chicago opening weekend. I have had the opportunity to see the Buffalo Bills on the road in these places as well as several others.
“I remember walking in the locker-room at halftime, thinking, ‘I bet my wife has left the stadium and she’s packing for the offseason.’ ” – Mark Pike
The Frank Reich vs. Greg Bell Monday night game at Rich Stadium. The AFC championship games against Joe Montana and the Chiefs. Other AFC Championship games against the Raiders and Broncos. The Music City Miracle ‘payback’ home opener against the Titans. The 77 second miracle against Denver topped by the Oilers comeback game. An OJ/Joe Ferguson game as a child. So many home games during the drought not worth mentioning… I was lucky enough (or unlucky enough) to attend them all.
“We will not build our offensive game plans around our punter… We hope we don’t major in punting.” – Rex Ryan
I am a passionate football fan. I have participated in the same Fantasy League since 1997. And I get angry when Buffalo loses; sometimes saddened. I get sucked into aggressive debates that are presented online or even on talk radio. I have been writing this article since 2015, when the Bills featured LeSean McCoy and Tyrod Taylor with Rex Ryan coordinating snacks. Those who have read them know its simply an opinionated, passionate editorial. Sometimes Sarcastic. Other times silly.
“We took another step today to solidify our collective goal of constructing a new stadium for the Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park. We are grateful for the time, efforts, and unwavering commitment made by Governor Hochul and her team throughout this process. While there are more hurdles to clear before getting to the finish line, we feel our public-private partnership between New York State, Erie County, led by County Executive Mark Poloncarz, and the National Football League will get us there.” – Terry and Kim Pegula
The new stadium is exciting news. I will keep political comments about those two clowns Hochul & Poloncarz out of a football commentary. My mom taught me: if I don’t have anything nice to say about someone, don’t say anything at all. I digress.
I admit that I would be devastated if the Bills did ever leave Western New York. At times, I find myself really bitter seeing other teams win it all while we still seek one Super Bowl triumph. I do have to strive to not be a sore loser. Maybe I could handle the victories a little bit more even keel.
“It Doesn’t Matter if you win or lose, until you lose.” – Charles M. Schulz
The recent shooting and death of my 28 year old nephew/Godson in Las Vegas has not impacted my love of the Buffalo Bills. It has not changed my desire to have the Lombardi Trophy awarded to the Buffalo Bills. I still follow our team daily. I read everything I can about the team. And I listen to sports talk radio. I even follow social media regarding them.
The death of my young nephew, in a tragic way, has put things back in to perspective. I don’t get mad at other peoples’ opinion. Praise them if you choose. Critique them if you must. I don’t feel all doom and gloom because of recent playoff losses. My Godson’s passing has reminded me that Football is a game. It’s simply entertainment. Instead of the complaining, I have been drawn towards those who appreciate the Bills as a luxury. It’s not life or death.
