Buffalo Bills: Things We Know This Week

In loving memory of Christopher Campise, April 16, 1993 – March 11, 2022. Godspeed my Godson, nephew, and best friend.
I want to commence by apologizing to the “Baker’s-Dozen” of my loyal readers for my one month absence. I want to also recognize the readers I only need “one-hand” to count on that missed reading my content. I’m Back… ready, set, digress….
“Losing streaks are funny. If you lose at the beginning, you got off to a bad start. If you lose in the middle of the season, you’re in a slump. If you lose at the end, you’re choking.” – Gene Mauch
McBeane pleaded with us for several seasons to TRUST THE PROCESS. Most of us did just that.
“I found that, while life drags on when you’re losing, it marches on when you’re winning.” – Tony Dungy
It was not very difficult as Buffalo subsequently took the longest playoff drought record at that time off of our backs. 17 seasons was more than plenty, dating back to the 1999 season. The Browns tied this ambitious task, putting them on second-worst-playoff-drought-list along with our beloved Bills, New Jersey Giants, and Philadelphia Eagles.
“Losing builds character. You know who said that? A loser! A guy who got his ass stomped every day; basketball, football, baseball, lose, lose, lose, and lose. All right, I’m talking about me.” – Christopher Titus
The Saints, from THE BIG EASY, still hold the longest playoff drought in history at 20 seasons. The current streak is in the hands of the New Jersey Jets at ten seasons. That is a heck of a lot of losing right there.
“Nixon was a bad loser. He hated losing worse than death, and that is why I enjoyed him. We were both football fans, both addicts; and, on some days, nothing else mattered.” – Hunter S. Thompson
McBeane made the playoffs in year one with T-Mobile (AKA Tyrod Tylor) behind center. Even with the failed Nathan Peterman experiment, the Buffalo Bills played in the postseason. It was amazing to see the likes of Eric Wood and Kyle Williams appear in the Wildcard game before the end of their careers.
“Nothing worth having comes easy. Trust the process.” – Napz Cherub Pellazo
I trust the process. The team has grown every year since McBeane arrived. The franchise quarterback has improved season over season, along with the many weapons here. Coaches and executives are being promoted. The defense consistently remains elite. The team has been routinely healthy. The team has overcome injuries.
“Winners are willing to go longer, work harder, and give more than anyone else.” – Vince Lombardi
Trusting the process does not simply end with a Super Bowl victory. The process has returned the organization to a model of how to build a consistent winning culture. If I was asked to pick the team to unseat the Rams as world champions, I would resolve the Buffalo Bills.
“I’m not superstitious but I am a little ‘stitious.” – Michael Scott
Things we know about The Buffalo Bills This Week:
Brandon Beane continuous mastering the art of the one year deal. The Bills signed OL Bobby Hart, keeping him in town for one more season as depth to protect Josh Allen.
Former Bills GM Doug Whaley continues being wrong about football. He predicted the Bills would trade Stephon Diggs. Brandon Beane did the exact opposite, extending the All-Pro’s contract to keep him in the Queen City. Whaley is currently an executive in the XFL, keeping him distant from our Buffalo Bills. Very Nice.
The Bills are one of only six NFL teams to receive a grade of “A” for the free agent moves they met. Outstanding job McBeane!!
