“Don’t let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning.” – Robert Kiyosaki
When you are a diehard, life-long fan of a sports team such as the Buffalo Bills, it could be easy to become like Negative Stanley. One could look at the Ronnie Harmon drop, four Super Bowl losses, “Wide Right”, home-run throwback (aka Music City Miracle), questionable officiating, or “13 Seconds” and become a pessimist.
“There will be many failures sprinkled among the successes you enjoy.” – Marv Levy
I’ve heard that the Bills are cursed. Ya know, hexes and magic spells. They will never win. Maybe someone important shagged someone important. Perhaps the Bills took part in an underground gambling scandal decades ago. And the FBI squashed it by in return for a guarantee by the NFL that they would never be world champions. Bills Mafia? Murphy’s Law? Conspiracy Theories? I digress…
“The curse of mortality is the other side of the coin of the blessing of life.” – Mokokoma Mokhonoana
I would not suggest there are undisclosed documents from the late 1960s that prove the league was keeping the Lombardi trophy away from Western New York. The fans of the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, LA Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, and Cincinnati Bengals are right there with Bills fans. Heck, the Jags, Lions, Browns, and Texans have never even played on Super Bowl Sunday.
“I thought it wasn’t winning or losing, but how you played the game that matters. Just ask anyone who came in second place if that is true.”
– Kenneth Eade,
The Buffalo Bills will have their day. We shall have a Super Bowl parade in the Queen City. I believe that day is coming with the leadership of McBeane. I am confident that the arm of Josh Allen will be the center piece.
Seven ESPN experts out of 12 have Buffalo going to the Super Bowl next season. Five have them as world champions. Not too shabby.
Things we know about the Buffalo Bills this week:
- Nick Shook of NFL.com had nothing but praise for Gabriel Davis as Buffalo’s unsung hero.
- Pro Football Focus named Greg Rousseau its “Highest Rated Rookie Edge Rusher”.
- Football Power Index named the Buffalo Bills as their number one ranked NFL team.
