“You can run, but you’ll only die tired.” –Boba Fett
Boba Fett survived the Sarlacc Pit, where he was destined to be slowly digested over hundreds of years. I know when I saw Return of the Jedi as a child, I certainly never thought I’d be watching a TV show with Boba Fett as the main character in 2022. It’s not a prequal. He is alive.
“I mean, I don’t give a sh*t where it is. I’m like, I just wanna play in the dang thing. But the fact that it’s under this roof, it’s going to be awesome.” –Mathew Stafford
The same can be said for Matthew Stafford who, in his own way, escaped the Sarlacc Pit also known as the Detroit Lions organization. As his career was being slowly digested on a losing team, playing meaningless games year after year, the Rams saved him from that horrible fate on the Tatooine Lions. Boba Fett was recently rewarded with his own show after a cameo on The Mandalorean. Matt Stafford is on his way to the Show, playing in front of his home crowd in the Super Bowl. Maybe he will collect a bounty, the Lombardi Trophy.
I like the positive discontent displayed by both teams who played in the NFC Championship game. The Rams made it to the Super Bowl with Jared Goff in early 2019. They realized he was not good enough to become world champions and upgraded to Matt Stafford. Jimmy Garoppolo has failed to be elite, and the 49ers traded up to draft their future quarterback, Trey Lance.
Many people enjoyed watching Kansas City lose to the Bengals in overtime. I, personally, wanted KC to win it all because I prefer losing to the best. I believe the Buffalo Bills would have beat the Bengals in Buffalo. They would have become world champions with a victory over the Rams. I am not really excited about the Bengals winning the Lombardi Trophy as they would just be another team to fall off that short list of teams never to win the Super Bowl. I’m clearly pulling for the Rams and Matt Stafford to take home the hardware.
“I am about to do something very bold in this job that I’ve never done before … try.” –Jim Halpert
I am glad to see the 49ers out of contention. I do not want a team to win the title without having an elite quarterback. The Buffalo Bills took many years to find Josh Allen, who may be the best in the league and certainly is in the top three. A team winning with a quarterback who simply excels at managing a game with progressive checkdowns does not excite anyone. The Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson championship teams lacked that DYNAMIC quarterback play. I, for one, have never watched a game with Jimmy Garoppolo playing for the PATS or 49ers and thought he was a gamechanger. Can he win games? Certainly, in a system he knows that has talent. Is he dynamic? No way.
“I heard they were incredible. Yeah, sounds like all the teams did a great job. Lots of passing, and all the touchdowns were in the end zone.” –Peyton Manning
Peyton Manning was quite funny on SNL this past weekend as part of Weekend Update. His “Go Bills” proclamation at the end of his skit with him not being up to speed to comment on the Playoffs was quite humorous. His character supposedly binge watched Emily in Paris instead. Funny stuff, which is not often the case on SNL these days. GO BILLS!
Things we know about the Buffalo Bills this week:
Brian Daboll has been named head coach of the New Jersey Giants. Joe Schoen, former Bills Assistant General Manager and new Giants GM, continued his trend by snagging offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, bringing him to the Giants organization.
Josh Allen is not only with great company, he has the highest passer rating ever in a single postseason.
2021 Josh Allen 149.0
1989 Joe Montana 146.4
1966 Bart Starr 135.6
