Buffalo Bills: Things We Know This Week

“If you can’t say something bad about a relationship, you shouldn’t say anything at all.” – George Costanza

“Trying is the first step towards failure.” – Homer Simpson

“Big deal, so he scored. The last time I saw someone dance like that, I had to pay her $20 and have my pants dry cleaned the next day.” -Dennis Miller

Money is numbers, and numbers never end. If it takes money to be happy, your search for happiness will never end.” – Bob Marley

“If you can’t say anything nice, say it about Diane.” – Carla Tortelli

“The Bills are not going anywhere with Josh Allen’s lack of discipline when it comes to ball security. Two fumbles and some throws he was lucky weren’t picked off.” – Negative Stanley

Given: The Bills overall success this season comes down to the continued development/improvement of Josh Allen.

I think it was a bit frivolous of ESPN naming quarterback, Josh Allen, the team’s Achilles heel prior to the season.

Many post-game social media armchair quarterbacks and talk show callers mimicked that of the Negative One. The kind of fan that picked at the Bills for not shutting out the Raiders in the 51-3 AFC Championship game so long ago. You know the fan. Complaining after a hockey team wins a big game, but they lost too many face-offs.

It was a substantial win for the Bills. No pre-season games. An uncertain stressful time in America for many reasons. Looking up in the stands only to see empty seats, except the mascot. If any home opener over the years was excusable for a sluggish and sloppy performance, this would be the year. Against any team! As bad as the New Jersey Jets are, they are an NFL team in the division. Buffalo looked like a dangerous offense with some fine-tuning needed. When was the last time Buffalo and dangerous offense were paired up in a sentence?

Allen became Buffalo’s first quarterback to exceed 300 yards passing since 2016. He executed touchdown passes twice. He engineered drives ending in four field-goal attempts, in which only two had a final destination between the uprights. He had 57 yards rushing in which one run had him jogging into the end-zone. I believe it’s jogging … or yogging, it might be a soft J. I’m not sure, but apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It’s supposed to be wild.

I could not resist the opportunity for a Ron Burgundy quote. It’s not as if more quotes would be the deal-breaker for a Pulitzer Prize, right? You know the drill. I digress…..
