Buffalo Bills: Things We Know This Week

“So that’s what opening up a can of whoop-ass feels like.” – Bobby Boucher
Brandon Beane continues to master the art of the one-year deal.
“We’re paying Stefon Diggs a pretty hefty number, we’re paying Josh Allen a pretty hefty number. But there are constraints of the cap.” – Brandon Beane
Latavius Murray, NFL running back, resided in both Denver and New Orleans last season. He collected 760 rushing yards, 27 receptions as well as finding the end-zone six times. Not too shabby.
“To be honest, for a while I never thought I was a good pass protector. I actually thought I was really bad at it. So I was very critical on myself, especially if I got bull rushed or if I got juked. I was very critical of myself and I think that really motivated me to use my frame, even if it may not look pretty. Use my frame, use my size, and make sure my guy doesn’t touch the quarterback. I think I’ve been able to improve on that each year.” – Latavius Murray
The Buffalo Bills announced Monday morning that they have signed the 6’3”, 230 pound Murray to a one year deal. I conclude that the Bills waited for the draft to be completed before officially making such a signing. Had things landed differently this past draft weekend, this may not have been a place of need.
“The team comes first. Not one person is more important than the other.” – Sean McDermott
Murray is 33 years YOUNG and did rush for over a thousand yards in 2015. The large man has been a Pro Bowler and has participated in the NFL playoffs.
Sean Payton has proclaimed Murray as being one of his absolute favorite players. Very Nice.
Things we know about the Buffalo Bills this week
Speaking of one-year deals, the Bills signed former Seattle Seahawks DT Poona Ford on Tuesday.
The Buffalo Bills 2023 Draft Class
Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah
“Maybe you saw this pick late in Round 1 and said, wait, didn’t the Bills just extend Dawson Knox on a four-year deal last September? You’re not misremembering. But I still love this selection because of what the Bills can do with Kincaid. Look at him more like a 6-foot-4, 246-pound slot receiver who can create mismatches.” – Todd McShay
O’Cyrus Torrence, G, Florida
“Torrence was a steal because of the power and nimble feet he’ll provide in the run game.” – Chad Reuter
Dorian Williams, LB, Tulane
“Off-ball linebacker Dorian Williams ran a 4.49-second 40-yard dash at the combine, and he has some coverage ability. After Tremaine Edmunds left in free agency, Buffalo has a need at inside [line]backer, though I’m not sure Williams is the perfect fit.” – Mel Kiper Jr.
Justin Shorter, WR, Florida
“They picked an outside receiver with downfield ability in Shorter, who could push Gabe Davis.” – Chad Reuter
Nick Broeker, G, Ole Miss
“Nick Broeker may be a Day 3 pick who could surprise.” – Dane Brugler
Alex Austin, CB, Oregon State
“Austin has potential as a physical outside corner.” – Chad Reuter
