Buffalo Bills on the Roster Bubble (2022)

Published

on

With a strong free agency/draft that the Buffalo Bills and GM Brandon Beane had this year, it should push some players to the back end of the roster. Those players will need to have a strong preseason if they want to stick around on the 53-man roster. But, which players are on the bubble?

Zack Moss

The Bills drafted Zack Moss in the third round of the 2020 draft. Since then, it’s been an up and down tenure with the team… more down than anything. In his two seasons with the team, Moss has totaled 826 yards and eight TDs with a 4.0 yards per carry (YPC) average. This year, the Bills added to their backfield with James Cook in the draft and Duke Johnson in free agency. With ST Ace Taiwan Jones also on the roster, Johnson and Moss will be fighting for the last roster spot. Johnson’s work as a receiver might give him the edge in that battle.

Cody Ford

Ahhh yes, Cody Ford. The man we all thought would step in and solidify the guard position. Well, going on four seasons later, Ford has some competition, with Ike Boettger and David Quessenberry on the line now. With both starting positions filled, Ford will need to have the preseason of his life if he wants to see the end of his rookie contract. In particular, Ford will have to compete with David Quessenberry, who possesses the type of versatility that HC Sean McDermott likes (OT and OG).

AJ Epenesa

When Epenesa was drafted in 2020, the Bills and the fanbase thought they found their future on the edge. Fast-forward two seasons and that’s hardly been the case. Now, with Von Miller, Shaq Lawson, Boogie Basham, and Greg Rousseau in the DE room, Epenesa could be shown the door. (And possibly shipped to the Buffalo Giants?) The Buffalo Bills have a chance to wipe their hands clean of the draft pick and give additional snaps to their second year guys.

Honorable Mention: Marquez Stevenson
