Injury Report, Buffalo Bills, Jordan Poyer, Miami Dolphins, Week 4

The Buffalo Bills are 2-1 and rolling after a blowout of the Washington Commanders. However, injuries are building up with a notable superstar declared OUT for their Week 4 contest Sunday.

As for the Miami Dolphins, they will be missing at least one starter. Their top DE Jaelan Phillips has been ruled OUT. Meanwhile, starting offensive linemen Terron Armstead and Connor Williams are QUESTIONABLE, as are RB Salvon Ahmed and S DeShon Elliott.

OUT: S Jordan Poyer

Jordan Poyer is no stranger to the Buffalo Bills injury report over the past season and a half. He has dealt with elbow, lung, and knee ailments. One possible reason why he did not cash in on the open market is due to an ailing knee, in which he played through a torn lateral meniscus.

Last week, Poyer appeared to tweak his knee when DaQuan Jones fell on his thigh while his foot was planted in the ground with a bent knee. This is basically 320+ pounds of force falling on a leg in the Thessaly Test position, which tests for a torn meniscus.

Jordan Poyer was able to stay in the game for three more series after the injury occurred, but likely dealt with the swelling in the aftermath. It will be interesting to see if this is more of an aggravation of his previous meniscal tear, or a new tear. Surgery may be an option, but too early to know.

LISTED

S Micah Hyde

Hyde exited the Week 2 game early in the fourth quarter with a ‘hamstring’ injury. Bucking previous tendencies, Buffalo let Hyde play the week after his hammy strain against Washington. As previously mentioned last week, he could be dealing with hamstring tendonitis (which is the opposite of a new strain). If so, he won’t have to miss time in the short-term, but will need to manage it.

DE Leonard Floyd

Floyd also exited Week 2 in the fourth quarter due to a right ‘ankle’ injury. He likely has some wear and tear in the ankle and aggravated it. He might struggle with this ankle from time to time over the course of the season. However, he was able to play his normal approximate snap count last week (48%).

OG Ryan Bates

Speaking of ‘ankle’ injuries, Bates appeared to roll his left ankle late in Week 3 against the Commanders. He was listed on the injury report this week, but was able to ramp up from No Participation to Limited to Full.

Low ankle sprains usually have a quick recovery of 0-1 weeks. Ryan will be fine for this week, since he is a backup on the OL.

LS Reid Ferguson

Reid was added to the Bills injury report with a ‘wrist’ injury on Thursday. This was a surprise and may have occurred in practice or flared up mid-week. Regardless, he will be active Sunday, but his snapping might be affected due to the ailment.

CB Taron Johnson

Taron was listed with a ‘hip’ injury to start this practice week. He played his highest snap count of the year thus far (87%) last week. It’s likely nothing major, and even possibly was just bothersome in practice. He was able to progress from Limited to Full (twice) this week and will be active Sunday.

DB Siran Neal

Siran was listed on the practice report with an ‘ankle’ ailment. It is unknown when it occurred, but he will also be active for the Buffalo Bills this Sunday. He progressed from DNP to Limited to Full during the week.
