Buffalo Bills Madden Sim: Rams get trounced at home by the Bills

It was a huge bounce-back game for the Bills as they took the Rams to the woodshed at the L.A. Coliseum, winning 44-27. A couple of players for Buffalo shinned in the win on Sunday, which included an offensive explosion and the middle of the defense dominating the Rams offense. Most importantly, the win keeps Buffalo above .500 on the season. Here a few key takeaways from yesterday’s game in Los Angeles.

Bills passing offense explodes

The Bills passing offense went crazy this past Sunday in Los Angeles. Josh Allen had his best game in his career, completing 81 percent of his passes for 404 yards and five touchdowns. The Rams defense could do nothing to stop Allen. On top of that, the Bills nearly had three receivers go for over 100 yards. John Brown led the way with seven receptions for 171 yards and three touchdowns. Dawson Knox had 11 receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown, and Stefon Diggs had six receptions for 90 yards. The Bills passing offense was electric on Sunday.

Ed Oliver dominates

Despite the off-field concerns for Ed Oliver in reality, on Sunday he was arguably the best player on the field. He finished the game with eight tackles, two tackles for loss, and five sacks. That’s right five sacks. The Rams offensive line could not slow him down whatsoever. Oliver has turned into one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the NFL in the BF Madden Sim. Oliver proved why he was a top 10 pick in 2019 and had one of the best games you will ever see from a defensive linemen.

An “X Factor” emerging for the Bills

In the Bills two wins this season, one thing has remained constant. When Dawson Knox plays well the Bills seem to win. In their two wins, Knox has had double-digit receptions and over 100 yards. Allen seems to look for Knox underneath as a safety blanket and on corner routes against linebacker that cannot run with him. He’s made huge strides from his rookie year and looks like one of the best young tight ends in the NFL.

Offensive line struggles

One of the few areas that the Bills struggled in on Sunday was on the offensive line, as Allen was sacked four times. The run game was also nowhere to be found as the Bills rushed for just a measly 65 yards. It was an impressive day for the Bills, but the offensive line has to play better. They cannot allow Allen to be hit as often as he was. They also need to open some running lanes for Devin Singletary and Zack Moss to take some pressure of Allen and the receivers.

E.J. Gaines shines, while Josh Norman struggles

The Bills defense was very good, despite giving up 27 points, most of which came in garbage time during the fourth quarter. However, one player on the defense struggled a lot was cornerback Josh Norman. He got beat badly by Albert Wilson on Sunday, who had 9 receptions for 112 yards and a score. Meanwhile, E.J. Gaines was very impressive. He was all over the field making tackles in the backfield, rarely got targeted, and recovered a fumble. It’s something to keep an eye on as Gaines and seventh-round pick Dane Jackson have both played well. They could push the veteran Norman out of a starting role.

The Bills (2-1) will stay on the road for a third consecutive week as they head to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs (1-1-1), who are coming off of a 38-14 blowout win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
