Buffalo Bills Injury Primer: Week 8

The Bills are back in town, two weeks removed from another Music City nightmare. The horror can reverse this Sunday, as Buffalo looks to squish the fish on Halloween. Unfortunately, a couple of cult favorites will not be joining the monstrous mash.
The Dolphins appear to be stuck in a polluted sea of trash. On the IR includes S Jason McCourty, RB Malcom Brown, C Michael Deiter, and WR Will Fuller. Several players were limited all week in practice and listed as Quetionable, which include: LB Jerome Baker, CB Noah Igbinoghene, C Greg Mancz, and WR DeVante Parker.
OUT
TE Dawson Knox

Dawson fractured his ‘hand’ against Tennessee and has been absent from practice all week. Based on the bandage seen at practice, and the reports that he suffered ‘multiple’ fractures, the best guestimate would be a surgical fixation to stabilize fractures in his middle and ring fingers. We could see Dawson back as early as next week, but more likely in two weeks, for the Bills-Jets game.

DOUBTFUL
OT Spencer Brown
After starting the past three games for the Bills, Spencer popped up on the injury report with a ‘back’ injury. He did not participate in any practices this week. It is very odd since he had a 100% snap count the past three weeks and there was no sign of injury. Spencer has an extensive injury history with his knees, but the back condition would be new. It is not surprising, as he is 6’8”. Rumor has it he sustained the injury in a bye week workout. Worst case, he has a herniated disc, which could lead to recurrent problems and eventual surgery. However, it could be as simple as a sprain or muscle strain and he returns in a week. Only time will tell for the Bills starting RT.

Prediction: OUT
QUESTIONABLE
DT Justin Zimmer
Zimmer was listed with a ‘foot’ injury when practice opened on Wednesday. He has taken around 40% of snaps for the Bills so far this season and wasn’t mentioned as having an injury entering the practice week. Zimmer most likely suffered a minor ailment during practice on Wednesday, thus causing a limited participation. He followed that up with another limited participation, but finished the week as a full participant. There is no news, but I would assume it’s a minor sprain or contusion that is virtually healed already.
Prediction: Active
