The Buffalo Bills are fresh off one of their more embarrassing losses in recent memory. Luckily, they have a chance to bounce back in another heavily favored matchup. Key contributors on offense are returning this week. However, there is significant attrition on the defensive side of the ball entering this matchup.
The Jets enter this matchup down a few propellers. On their IR list include WR Denzel Mims, FS Marcus Maye, TE Tyler Kroft, OT Mekhi Becton, FS Lamarcus Joyner, DE Carl Lawson, and DE Vinny Curry. Listed as Doubtful for this matchup include QB Zach Wilson and OT Chuma Edoga.
LB Tremaine Edmunds
Tremaine was a surprise listing to the injury report this week. He was able to play in 100% of the snaps against Jacksonville. However, he did not participate in practice all week with a ‘hamstring’ injury. I wouldn’t expect him to miss much more time, but it will be all eyes on Tremaine when practice resumes next Wednesday.
DT Justin Zimmer
A budding Buffalo Bill suffered a big blow this week, as it is now reported that Zimmer tore his ACL. An ACL is a ‘knee’ injury, and the surgical recovery takes about 9-12 months. Look for Zimmer to be back by training camp in a limited fashion. Potentially a PUP list candidate, and then brought back midseason in 2022.
OG Jon Feliciano
Mongo left the Dolphins game late, after playing 95% of the snaps. He appears to have strained his ‘calf’ while pass blocking but was able to jog it out after the injury. This means he likely had a mild calf strain, which will require 2-4 weeks to recover. He was placed on the IR last week prior to the Jaguars game, so Mongo will be out until at least Thanksgiving (the Saints game).
RB Zack Moss
Moss exited the game last week with a ‘concussion’. He was a little slower to return to practice this week, but he has cleared the protocol.
The team can easily play Zack this week, but I have a feeling that they use this as an opportunity to get another look at Breida, while justifiably taking a conservative approach with his head injury.
TE Dawson Knox
Dawson fractured his ‘hand’ three weeks ago. He underwent surgery after the Titans game and, after missing two weeks of practice, was able to ramp up to a full participant this week. Based on information gathered, he likely broke two metacarpals in the middle of his hand. This is usually a 2–4-week recovery, which puts Dawson at 26 days post-surgery on Sunday.
OT Spencer Brown
After starting the last three games prior to the bye week, Spencer popped up on the Buffalo Bills injury report with a ‘back’ injury leading up to the Dolphins game. It has since been reported that he injured his back during a workout at some point during the team’s week off. He did not participant in any practices the next two weeks.
Spencer has an extensive injury history with his knees, but the back condition is a new ailment. There are a lot of possibilities for a back injury when working out. These can include a sprain of a joint, strain of a muscle, stress reaction at a vertebrae, but unfortunately also a disc injury is at play. Based on my assumption, I think he is dealing with a disc injury. It can be managed conservatively, but time will tell if it is something that gets aggravated over time.
WR Cole Beasley
Beasley was injured in the Dolphins game two weeks ago. He was able to play 67% of the snaps in the Jaguars game, but he did not look completely comfortable. He is being listed with ‘ribs’ and they are likely bruised. Cole’s practice was managed all week with limited participation. Fortunately, he will likely play for the Buffalo Bills this week.
CB Taron Johnson
Taron exited last week’s game with a ‘concussion’ early. When entering this practice week, he was able to see the field a day before Zack Moss, which means he recovered faster. He has since cleared protocol and finished the week as a full participant. He will be active on Sunday.
S Jaquan Johnson
Jaquan exited last week’s game with a ‘hamstring’ injury. Logically, you’d think he would be having more trouble with his hamstring injury compared to Tremaine Edmunds. However, that is not the case as Jaquan is projected to play this Sunday. He was able to return to practice as aa full participant on Friday.
