Bills Hire Adam Henry As WRs Coach

The Buffalo Bills made another addition to their coaching staff Wednesday, as they hired Adam Henry to be their new wide receivers coach, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Henry replaces Chad Hall, who left for the same position in Jacksonville last week.

Henry, 50, brings with him 12 years of NFL coaching experience and 14 years of college experience. He most recently served as the Indiana Hoosiers’ co-offensive coordinator and WRs coach during the 2022 season.

Most notably, Henry has been the WRs coach for the Dallas Cowboys (2020-21), Cleveland Browns (2018-19), New York Giants (2016-17), and San Francisco 49ers (2015). He was also the receivers coach and passing game coordinator at LSU from 2012-14. Henry began his NFL coaching career with the Raiders as an offensive quality control coach and a TEs coach (2007-11). He spent his first nine years of coaching at McNeese State, his alma mater.

As a player, Henry was a WR himself and finished his four-year career with 93 receptions, 1,690 yards, and 16 TDs. After college, Henry went undrafted and had stints with the New Orleans Saints for three years before starting his coaching career in 1997.

Let The Rumors Begin… Again

The most intriguing part of this hire for the Buffalo Bills? Henry has been Odell Beckham Jr.’s WRs coach for three teams for a total of six years. He was with OBJ at LSU (2012-13), then in New York, and then once more in Cleveland. Could the Bills be planning to reunite the two for their fourth stint together?

There were a lot of rumors this past season that Beckham Jr. was going to sign with Buffalo to help make a late-season push, but his ACL was never healthy enough to make a return to the gridiron. However, Bills DE Von Miller said at his end-of-the-season press conference that the door still hasn’t closed for the Bills to sign Odell. This hiring makes that quote even more interesting.

Other notable wide receivers Adam Henry has worked with are Jarvis Landry, Amari Cooper, and CeeDee Lamb. (Henry also coached Landry at LSU and Cleveland.) Based on this video, it appears as though Henry is well-liked and respected by his WRs.
