Buffalo Bills: Day One of OTAs With Lots of New Faces

OTAs or Organized Team Activities start back up today for the Buffalo Bills at One Bills Drive, and there are plenty of new faces all around the room. This off-season, the Bills signed an unprecedented eighteen free agents bringing up their roster to 71 players. The team led by General Manager Brandon Beane that quarterback Josh Allen direly needed protection from every single way and some weapons to throw to; as a result, they signed six offensive linemen and three wide receivers and two tight ends.
Some of these deals for the free agents are long-term deals (three and four year contracts), while some are one-year, prove it type deals. The players on one year contracts hopefully outshine their contracts and get signed to longer ones next off-season here or worst case they go elsewhere sign a bigger deal and the Bills get early compensation picks in the 2020 NFL Draft.
These OTAs for right now are voluntary so it is always interesting to see who does and doesn’t show up and fans of a given team can’t freak out when they see their star player not showing up. This time of year is what’s called in the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement as Phase 1: which is strength and conditioning, no live contact is allowed at all. A few teams, most notably the Baltimore Ravens got reprimanded for having contact during these practices.
All and all, it is nice to have football back even if it’s just the players on the team running around and lifting weights, also for the Bills sake to see the new workout facility first hand and see what it has.
