Rasul Douglas, Buffalo Bills, Trade Deadline

Well the trade deadline came and went, and the Buffalo Bills acquired a CB. (Just not the one most fans were expecting.) Buffalo traded their third round pick to the Green Bay Packers for Rasul Douglas and a fifth round pick. The Bills added a CB to a position that lacks depth, and quite frankly, a quality starter. Let’s review the trade.

Who is Rasul Douglas?

Rasul Douglas is in his seventh year in the NFL (his third year with Green Bay). He excelled the most as a Packer. In his three years with Green Bay, he’s recorded 10 INTs, 32 passes defended, two forced fumbles, and one sack.

Douglas figures to step right in as the No. 2 corner next to Christian Benford/Dane Jackson right away, with a tall task against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night. Benford, Jackson, and/or Douglas will have their hands full trying to contain Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. However, it will be an easier task than before this trade happened.

Buffalo Bills CB Room

  • Christian Benford
  • Rasul Douglas
  • Taron Johnson
  • Dane Jackson
  • Siran Neal
  • Cam Lewis
  • Kaiir Elam
  • Herb Miller (PS)
  • Kyron Brown (PS)
  • Ja’Marcus Ingram (PS)
  • Josh Norman (PS)

Now the biggest question remaining in the CB room is what they do with former first round pick Kaiir Elam. Elam was drafted in 2022 as a man corner. Buffalo hoped to develop him into a good zone corner. Now, with him being a healthy scratch for most of this season in a thin room, the Bills need to have a plan for Elam. Many expected him to be traded, and he even had a market the week leading up to the deadline. Now, the CB room gets deeper, and their first round pick is still here in street clothes.
