Playoffs?! You kidding me? It’s the second appearance in the postseason in three years for the Buffalo Bills. How about that? It’s cause for celebration, certainly.
As the wonderful Mitch Broder reminds us in this week’s “Thursday Thought”, the Buffalo Bills have a meaningless week 17 matchup… but this time for all the right reasons.
That’s right. It’s not just week 16 predictions. It’s Patriots week predictions. Listen… it just means more. Division rivals, the NFL’s baseline for success in the 21st century, and arguably the country’s most hated franchise in all of sports.
Okay, I admit it Bills Mafia. I’m feeling spoiled as a fan. My ego is getting plumper, stuffed to the seams with grandma’s stuffing. Am I the victim of overreaction Monday and the anticipation of Thursday’s feast? Nope.
What a win Bills Mafia! An awesome performance from Josh Allen and a great day play-calling from Brian Daboll! So, what have we learned? Is the offense fixed? Or should we temper excitement because this is after all the Miami Dolphins? I tend to favor the former conclusion.
With a week nine statement win in the books and a comfortable 6-2 record heading into the month of November, it’s hard to ask for anything more from a Buffalo team who at this time last year held a 2-6 record. Yet Bills fans are doing exactly that. The fanbase is not exactly satisfied, and it blows my mind.
I’m disappointed, as I’m sure all of you are too. It’s not just that we lost to the 4-4 Eagles, it’s that we weren’t even competitive throughout much of the game. Buffalo got smacked in the mouth in the second half. The Bills proved on Sunday they were incapable of putting together 60 complete minutes of professional football. The run defense took a step back, as did Josh Allen. Not to mention there is a lot of valid criticism being thrown at Brian Daboll’s playcalling.
Alright, please bear with me members of the BuffaloFanatics community while I vent for a second. Let me put to bed the ridiculous notion that Bills Mafia should come away from this week’s result feeling worse than before.
Four and one. Not many of the most optimistic Bills fans saw that coming, but here we are. After grinding out a tough 14-7 victory over the Titans where Buffalo saw a plethora of injuries, the Bills have two weeks to get healthy. Looks like the bye week timed out just right.
It’s amazing how winning masks all flaws. In the week leading up to the Patriots, it was all positive energy surrounding the Bills by seemingly every media outlet. There was great hope and a tangible excitement felt in every corner of Bills Mafia. Now after a heartbreaking finish at Orchard Park, Buffalo’s weaknesses have reared their ugly head.
It almost goes without saying. There are two goals for every Buffalo Bills fan each Sunday of football season: the Buffalo Bills earning a victory and a New England Patriots defeat.
As Bill Belichick once said, it’s on to Cincinnati. Welcome to 2-0. Welcome to the home opener. It’s time to prepare yourself for some potential…
What’s going on Buffalo Fanatics? Get excited for week two action with a little something we’re testing out here at BF. For the first time…
We’re still feeling that week one high over here at BF, as should all of you. That was special to say the least. Cherish it, lock it in, and now it’s time to look forward because we have a long season ahead of us. (With plenty more awesome memories to be made.)
You might not believe it, but week one of regular season football is already upon us. The Bills travel to Metlife on Sunday to take on their division rivals the New York Jets. The two ascending sophomore quarterbacks Josh Allen and Sam Darnold headline this act, but there are many more storylines to keep an eye on.
