Buffalo Bills
AFC East Roundup: Week 7

Well, the AFC East continues to look very good this year. The New York Jets are having a very strong start and the New England Patriots logged their second consecutive win of the season. As we near the trade deadline, there have been a handful of division players subject to trade rumors. Let’s take a look at the news and notes around the division.
AFC East Standings
Buffalo Bills
- Von Miller continues to say Odell Beckham Jr. is coming to the Bills:

- Jason La Canfora states that a Christian McCaffrey trade is a “near certainty”. With the reports linking Buffalo to McCaffrey both this past offseason and leading up to the November 1st trade deadline, it’s worth keeping an eye on.
- Josh Allen was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week in a row.
New York Jets
- Rookie edge rusher Jermaine Johnson didn’t practice on Wednesday and “likely won’t play” this week against the Denver Broncos, per head coach Robert Saleh. This would be the second consecutive game that he’s missed.
- DT Quinnen Williams was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Williams totaled two sacks, a forced fumble, and a blocked field goal last week versus the Green Bay Packers.
- The Jets are making their money in the fourth quarter, leading the NFL in fourth quarter point differential through six weeks at +48.
- One Jets player that’s been subject to trade rumors is CB Bryce Hall, according to Matt Lombardo. Hall’s playing time has declined in favor of Ahmad Gardner and D.J. Reed, and it looks like a trade could be best for both sides.
Miami Dolphins
- The Dolphins still seem interested in any trade offers for TE Mike Gesicki, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said. However, as of right now, they are not actively shopping him.
- Miami placed DE Trey Flowers and CB Nik Needham on the IR Wednesday.
- Tua Tagovailoa said he blacked out during his last concussion and “doesn’t remember a thing” after being hit on that Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. Tua makes his return to the field this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers for Sunday Night Football.
New England Patriots
- The Patriots announced a handful of roster moves Wednesday, including the signing of WR Raleigh Webb to their active roster. The team also signed DL Ron’Dell Carter to their practice squad.
- Webb likely replaces Cody Davis on special teams after he suffered a season-ending knee injury.
- Multiple teams have called the Patriots about WR Kendrick Bourne, according to ESPN. Bourne would likely welcome a change of scenery after being phased out of the offense this season.
- The Patriots have yet to name a starting quarterback for this week’s Monday night matchup against the Chicago Bears. Mac Jones is steadily recovering from his ankle injury. However, if they do turn to their first round QB it would be a shock to many, including red hot rookie Bailey Zappe, who’s coming off a 300-yard, two TD performance against the Cleveland Browns.
