Buffalo Bills

A Running Diary: The First Round of the NFL Draft, Part II

10:07pm: Pick #17. The question remains: will the Bills trade back into the end of the first round? Players like Montez Sweat and Jawaan Taylor are falling, and they would fit perfectly with the Bills roster.

10:12pm – 10:17pm: Dexter Lawrence and Garrett Bradbury are off the board. Both are process guys, but leave other elite guys on the board. Don’t forget about DK Metcalf either…

10:23pm: Jeffrey Simmons at 19! A bit rich for many analysts blood but a solid pick that keeps the Bills trade opportunities alive. Guys dropping like this is expected, but not these players.

10:31pm: Incredible. A pick that just seems out of left field. They’re re trusting Joe Flacco to get the ball to Noah Fant…?

10:35pm: Another trade! Packers making moves tonight.

10:38pm: Mel Kiper’s guy Darnell Savage is the pick for Green Bay. Interesting strategy by the Packers building through the secondary.

10:42pm: One more trade! Gotta assume the Eagles are helping Carson Wentz out here.

10:45pm: The Eagles did help Wentz, but with Andre Dillard, and not Taylor! Why is Taylor falling!?

10:50pm: MADNESS! Jawaan Taylor must of done something worse than have a picture of him hitting a gas mask bong go viral.

10:57pm: If the Bills are gonna trade back in for Taylor or Metcalf, it has to be soon.

11:05pm: Hollywood Brown is the first receiver taken by the Ravens, and the time is ticking for Metcalf to the Bills.

11:07pm: Keep the trades coming! Colts trading their pick to the Redskins.

11:13pm: Finally the slide ends for Sweat. The Redskins are making surprisingly shrewd moves tonight.

11:19pm: A solid pick by the Raiders, but for three round picks, it’s an unimpressive haul.

11:26pm: The Chargers draft well so you can assume they have a plan for Jerry Tillery. Very little time remaining for the Bills to start making moves. Beane might be waiting it out to see who drops into the second.

11:42pm: After an eternity of waiting, the Seahawks take a “football player”. Also Seattle traded their next pick, and not to the Bills.

11:44pm: This might be the start of the run on cornerbacks with New York taking Deandre Baker. The Giants and the Raiders owned almost 20% of the first round picks tonight. Plus, the Bills might not even need to trade back into the first now.

11:47pm: The Falcons trade back into the first with the Rams, killing all possible trade scenarios for the Bills (we’re not trading with the Patriots at 32). But the Falcons took another offensive linemen that’s not Jawaan Taylor! Wow.

11:54pm: N’keal Harry! When was the last time the Pats drafted a wide receiver in the first round? A fitting ending to a chaotic, riveting night of the NFL draft. No trades for Buffalo, but Risner, Taylor, Metcalf and many other great prospects are still on the board. But, wow, this defense is gonna be mean with Ed Oliver in the middle.
