5 Free-Agents the Bills Should Pursue this Offseason

When it comes to a financial standpoint, the Bills have not been in this strong of a position to spend in quite some time. With eighty plus million dollars in cap-space, here are five free-agents the Bills should pursue this offseason.

Jadeveon Clowney – DE

Possibly the most expensive option on this list, Clowney has had an up and down start to his career after being selected first overall by the Houston Texans in 2014. He is coming off what was his most consistent season as a pro. Finishing with 40 tackles, 9 sacks, and 16 tackles for loss. Injuries have been a concern for Clowney who has averaged only 11 games played in his career, but when healthy, he could make a big impact on an already strong Bill’s defense heading into 2019.

Grady Jarrett – DT

The Bills need a defensive tackle to take the spot of the recently retired legend Kyle Williams, Jarrett could fit the Bill, get it? Jarrett is coming off of a career-high 14 games started in 2018. He finished with 27 tackles including 8 tackles for loss. He also compiled a career-high 6 sacks and 16 QB hits. The Bills need to improve the pass rush in 2019, and Jarrett could be a huge step in the right direction on that front.

Trent Brown – OT

Left Tackle. Offensive Line. Hurts the Patriots. Rarely gets hurt. 25 years old. Allowed only 3.5 sacks this season. These are the reasons we should sign Trent Brown. Back up the Brinks truck.

Golden Tate – WR

The Bills should pursue Golden Tate to be the stabilizing veteran for their very young receiving corps. Tate has been part of some very important games in his career, mostly with the Seahawks and Eagles. Tate is coming off of a somewhat down year, compiling four touchdowns but did have four games with 70+ yards receiving. At age 30, this could be somewhat of a risk, but one the Bills should no bat their eyes at when it comes to improving their receiving corps.

Kareem Hunt – RB

We all know the story, and McDermott does not like to bring in low-character players. But, Hunt could go a long way to fixing the problems with the Bills running game at what will likely be a bargain barrel price as compared to what it could have been had he never gotten in trouble. He is an All-Pro that will help win the Bill’s football games. Before being released, Hunt had scored 7 rushing touchdowns and rushed for 824 yards. He added another 7 receiving touchdowns to go along with 351 receiving yards. If the Bills can live with the baggage that will ultimately come with Kareem Hunt, he could go a long way to helping the Bills and Josh Allen in 2019.
