Manny’s Fantasy Facts: Week Five Sleepers, Starts, & Sits

Week four surprised us all with one quarterback named Jameis Winston who did a simply brilliant job against a Los Angeles Rams defense that was too good. Winston took everyone to school for that pick, so the war wages on!

Let us see who are this week’s Sleepers, Starts, and Sits…

If your QB is out then be smart and start….

David Johnson, RB, Arizona Cardinals

David Johnson has had an okay fantasy season so far, but this week could be the big game from him. Johnson plays the Cincinnati Bengals who give up the second most fantasy points to running backs through four weeks. Out of the eight running backs that featured against the Bengals this season, seven of them have hit more than fifteen points this season. Three of them have hit more than twenty points this season, including James Conner of the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.

If you’re in deeper take a sleeper…

Jeff Wilson Jr., RB, San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco has an intriguing running back crew that is led by Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert. It’s those two so far (and Tevin Coleman when he comes back) that do the bulk of the running on this team, but when it comes down to the goal line, it’s been big back Jeff Wilson Jr. who has been getting all the touches. The 49ers have been rushing at an insane 175 yards per game, and when it is all said and done, Wilson gets that ball into the end zone. He has played in two games and has two touchdowns in each of those games. Need a sleeper? Here he is, playing a tough Cleveland defense where he still might get a touchdown or two.

If you’re special like me and play IDP…

Jayon Brown, LB, Tennessee Titans

Surprisingly, the Buffalo Bills allow the fourth most points to linebackers, and Jayon Brown will be no exception this week. The Bills like to run the ball, and if Frank Gore can run like he has so far, these tackles will head straight to Brown. Two weeks ago, against Cincinnati, Buffalo allowed Preston Brown get seven plus points. Last week against New England, both Kyle Van Noy and Jamie Collins amassed nine plus points. Look for Jaylon Brown to hit at least seven points for your fantasy team at minimum.

Don’t be in the pits and sit….

Keenan Allen, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

When you play the Denver Broncos, you may think that, wait, they’re 0-4! Why is this player a sit? Well, unfortunately, the Broncos are 0-4, but their defense against wide receivers has been excellent. The Broncos have only allowed two wide receivers to hit double digit fantasy points. With the Chargers having a potent running back tandem of Austin Ekeler and Melvin Gordon ready to go, look for them to get the majority of fantasy points. It also doesn’t help that wide receivers’ number two, three, and four are all out for the Chargers. This means Broncos corner Chris Harris Jr. will be all over Allen.

Josh Jacobs, RB, Oakland Raiders

Josh Jacobs has been mediocre when it comes to fantasy so far. Jacobs has only hit double digit points twice. So, he has been a little disappointing so far. This week, he faces another tough defense in the Chicago Bears who have allowed double digits to running backs only three times out of the seven running backs faced. The biggest problem for me is this: if the Raiders fall behind and have to catch up, it hurts Jacob owners because they do not use him much for passing plays. If you have a decent running back on your bench, maybe put him in.

IDP Janoris Jenkins, CB, New York Giants

So far in fantasy football Jenkins has been one of the standouts in the secondary position for fantasy points. He has six plus points, at least, in each of his games, but this week it could be a low week for him. This is not because he is not a good player, but he plays the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have allowed the third lowest fantasy points so far because they just do not like to throw the ball much. Hopefully, Jenkins gets some tackles on the throws that are attempted, but Jenkins might have a slower week unless all that apologizing by Cousins pushes him to start throwing more. Doubt it!

There you have it folks, my week five start and sits. Reach us on twitter @BuFFanaticsand @TheMightyDeol. Ask us any Fantasy questions. Although we are a Buffalo Bills page, we all want to win our fantasy leagues. So, every week I will have some starts and sits for the PPR and the IDP players out there.
