Buffalo Bills Free Agency

Buffalo Bills Will Sign Quinton Spain If Serious About Drafting Best Player Available

The Bills met with the former Tennessee Titans offensive guard Quinton Spain almost two weeks ago. If signed, Spain would immediately be slotted into a starting role as he would be considered the best guard on the Bills roster. Why has he not been signed? Lets get into it:

Why Bills would NOT sign Quinton Spain:

  • Bills feel offensive guard position is adequately supplied after previous offensive linemen signings
  • Bills are happy with a combination of Wyatt Teller/ Spencer Long/ Jon Feliciano
  • Spain is requesting a large contract
  • Bills have a plan to draft an interior offensive linemen early in the upcoming NFL Draft

Why Bills WOULD sign Quinton Spain:

  • Automatic starter at guard, a good one at that
  • Allows team not to worry about interior offensive line early in upcoming draft
  • Solidifies line, even if no linemen are drafted in 2019
  • Another body guard for Josh Allen

The Bills reportedly have an estimated $32.8M in open cap per NFLPA‘s public salary cap listing. This is one of those moves that’s a no brainer. Brandon Beane is making a mistake if he believes Spencer Long and Jon Feliciano are adequate replacements on the interior. We’re trying to run the rock and protect Josh Allen, not recreate The Replacements.

In 856 total snaps in 2018, Spain allowed just 1 sack and 1 QB hit, per ProFootballFocus.com. Quit playing games and sign Quinton Spain.
